Faith

Faith consists in believing when it is beyond the power of reason to believe.

Voltaire

The topic of today’s newsletter is FAITH and the importance of having it when taking your QUANTUM LEAP. Fred Alan Wolf described a quantum leap as “taking a risk, going off into an uncharted territory with no guide to follow.” In order for us humans to dare this wild move we need faith. We need faith that we will succeed, faith that we will arrive safely and faith that there are universal laws that we can trust in order to predict the result of our jump. Without faith, we will lack the courage to take the jump. Clearly, faith is vitally important.

What is faith? A dictionary typically defines faith as a firm belief in something for which there is no proof: complete trust: something that is believed especially with strong conviction.

In my experience, I have come to understand the significance of faith in my understanding and acceptance of the universal laws and to be able to run my life by these laws devotedly—not haphazardly.

What do we need to have faith in?

For a long time, I have been fascinated by faith and how to build it. A while ago, I took time off from work and spent a day meditating and thinking about Faith. I contemplated what faith is, the importance of having it and how to build it. At that time I had some big challenges in my life and my results were not in accordance with my expectations and my high goals. So looking ahead, I had to choose between adjusting my goals and lowering my expectations OR moving forward in absolute faith that I would reach my goals. By immersing myself in my reflection that day, I received clarity and a much deeper understanding of faith.

A strong faith will nurture you and shield you from circumstances and outside turmoil. There are always some external things happening in everyone’s lives and your level of faith will determine the impact these external forces will have on your life and your success. After that day, I decided to jump and forever close the door behind me—there was no turning back. I surrendered my logic, my reason and my need to control, and on pure faith, I moved forward. Looking back, I see that my leap of faith was the single most important thing in achieving the success I now experience. Faith enables you to let go and let God.

When pursuing our dreams we need to go outside of our comfort zone. We need to take a quantum leap and trust that it will work out. If you look at quantum physics you will find that the molecules take big leaps. And at the time of their “jump” it seems like they leap straight into emptiness. But they land safely where they should. When we take quantum leaps in our lives, we need to understand the universal laws and take the jump without having a safety net, trusting that it will appear if needed.

Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Faith in spirit and faith in yourself.

There are two areas where we must build our faith. The first is faith in the source, the universe, spirit, God, your higher self, the divine—or whatever you prefer to call it. You must faithfully believe that the universal laws are as exact as the physical laws and that you can live and prosper by living in harmony with these laws. You build faith by increasing your awareness. We live in an orderly universe; nothing happens by accident. You must study, understand and apply these principles. A great book to read is “Working with the Law” by Raymond Holliwell. It is a fantastic tool to help you understand how the universe and spirit operate by exact laws and how to understand these laws. If you want the book and can’t find it, let us know and we will help you locate it.

The second area in which we must build our faith is in ourselves. We all have unlimited potential. We are all a unique part of the divine, all knowing and all powerful. Don’t ever think that your current results are a reflection of your potential. The ideas and dreams you have are within your reach. You might choose not to pursue all of them, but you have the potential. Work with passion on your self-confidence, knowing that none of us will ever outperform our self-image. In order to reach big goals you must build faith in YOU.

Faith vs. Proof?

Often when we question something we think we are objective, rational and comparing facts. But very often our objections or doubts are just the products of habitual thinking, not accurate thinking. If it is important for you to question and doubt something, doubt your limits, not your potential.

Faith is to believe what you do not see;
the reward of this faith is to see what you believe.

Saint Augustine

How do you build faith?

As I see it, the key is to SURRENDER. You must surrender and just accept that there are things your mind does not understand; there are powers we cannot grasp. At some point, your understanding will not be enough. You have to surrender and take a leap of faith, letting go of the need to be in control.

Faith is a key element in all religions. There are dimensions far beyond our control. If you ask a person of any religion to explain their faith, they will likely be unable to do it. They have surrendered and accepted that there are things they can’t explain. But they have chosen to believe.

In Napoleon Hill’s book, Think and Grow Rich, he names Faith as the second of thirteen steps to a prosperous life. He calls Faith “the head chemist of the mind.” After studying 500 of the most successful people of his time, he built a fantastic knowledge base. In his book, he describes some great tools on how to build faith.

Moving into unknown territory most likely will feel a bit chaotic, uncomfortable and scary. But by building a strong faith, you can take the edges off these feelings and make them less uncomfortable. Moving forward, Jan Peter’s new book “Unlock Your Future – The key to a fulfilling life” will be a great practical help. The book gives you all the tools for breaking out to start your new life. Read more about the book.

Hopefully I have managed to emphasize the importance of faith in pursuing your dreams. Like a shield, faith will protect your spark, nurture it and give you courage, energy and passion to not only take small steps forward, but amazing QUANTUM LEAPS, leaving you in total awe of the astonishing things you are able to achieve.
