Transitions
Too many of us go straight from one thing to another, without taking time to pause, to stop up and reflect. It is a good thing to let go of the past before you start on something new. Very relevant to many of us: How many has not walked out the door of the office building with a lot of personal stuff on a Tuesday (or whatever) only to walk in an other office door, new company, new colleagues, new everything on Wednesday morning. I am pretty sure this has happened to more than me.
Well, I can say it is not a good thing. The French poet Paul Valery has said: Every beginning is a consequence. Every beginning ends something. The consequence of the ending one job relationship is in this instance that you start something else. The challenge is that we do not allow ourselves to end the former job before we start the new one. New office, new people, etc. but me, ego, is the same. I am still at the old job.
Don’t necessarily need all that much time, and a lot of us cannot afford all that much time either. But it is important to take some time to empty the system. Take two days away, in complete solitude, think of nothing. Leave your cell phone behind. Don’t watch TV, or listen to radio. Make some food when you are hungry. Stay up one night, just stay up. Feel on what you feel. There is nothing right or wrong. You feel what you feel, that is your emotions, and that is you.
Then you might be ready for new ventures.

I have an interesting article as well today, written by Garret Coan about difficult Life Transitions, what they can be and how to handle them.
Negotiating Difficult Life Transitions
By Garrett Coan
Life is a process of beginnings and endings. In both life and nature, there are times when things move slowly and don't seem to change very much. Then, suddenly, things change quickly. Moving from August to September, the weather changes gradually at first, and then it seems that suddenly summer is over. It is the same in our lives; transitions are as natural as the changing seasons.
Life transitions are challenging because they force us to let go of the familiar and face the future with a feeling of vulnerability. Most life transitions begin with a string of losses:
- The loss of a role
- The loss of a person
- The loss of a place
- The loss of your sense of where you fit in the world
